September is Here!

DSM is diving right into September with a number of activities curated for everyone who has an interest in theatre. For an insight into theatre in resistance, have a read of our monthly blog. An engaging Sunday morning with the family? Goshtarang with the stories of Mahashweta Devi, Shailaja Raje and Deepak P coming up. And of course, a foundation skills in acting workshop for the early-career performer.

And to cap it all, DSM conveners Jehan Manekshaw will be at E. Alkazi Acting Seminar: Collecting Practices at NGMA on 23rd of September. He will talk about training in the present time of a post modern/post dramatic theatre along with Rohini Hattangadi, Kusum Haider and Neel Chaudhuri. So aspiring theatremakers, your prayers have been answered!

Theatre in Resistance: Activism, Agitation and Protest in the Performing Arts

Sixty-nine years of independence are done and dusted. And while we celebrate political and armed struggles in a nation's journey to freedom, here's a short recounting of the roles the arts – especially theatre – plays in the shaping of society through activism, agitation and protest.

@thedramaschoolmumbai is a series of performances, lectures and all things theatre. This month we have DSM and YPTP combine forces to bring down the TARAPA team from Palhgar. They will perform a dramatic telling of tales from modern Indian literature. This event promises to be a treat for educators, drama instructors and children of all ages.
